Take Action! Support HB4, Oppose SJ2

Take action on these legislative bills!

Two critical bills in this legislative session could shape the future of outdoor recreation, public land access, and Wyoming’s economy. House Bill 4 is a vital investment in our snowmobile trail system, ensuring sustainable funding for maintenance and access. Senate Joint Resolution 2, however, threatens the very foundation of Wyoming’s outdoor economy by proposing the transfer of nearly all federal lands to state control—jeopardizing public access, public land management stability, and the businesses that rely on these spaces.

Now is the time to stand up for Wyoming’s outdoor heritage, support responsible investments in recreation infrastructure, and protect the public lands that sustain our communities, businesses, and way of life. We encourage you to take action today!

Support HB4 – Snowmobile User Fees Increase

HB4 is a critical investment in Wyoming’s trail system through a snowmobile fee increase. Snowmobiling generates over $255 million annually for Wyoming’s economy. This bill has broad support from the House Travel, Recreation, Wildlife & Cultural Resources Committee, Wyoming State Parks, Wyoming State Trails Council, and the Wyoming State Snowmobile Association, all recognizing the need for dedicated funding to maintain and enhance Wyoming’s extensive trail network.

HB0004 bill will:

  • Provide dedicated funding to sustain 2,600+ miles of trail, access points, and infrastructure that outdoor businesses and communities depend on through fee increases:

  • Increase resident fees from $35-$50

  • Increase non-resident fees from $35-$70

  • Increase commercial snowmobile fees from $105-$150

  • Introduce a one-time $25 fee for antique snowmobiles

  • Ensure long-term trail maintenance, improve recreational access, and strengthen Wyoming’s economy by supporting jobs and tourism revenue.

Oppose SJ2 - Federal Land Transfer Resolution

SJ2 proposes transferring all federal lands in Wyoming (except Yellowstone) into state control. This presents major concerns for outdoor recreation:

  • Threat to Public Land Access – State control increases the risk of privatization and restricted access, limiting opportunities for outdoor recreation and business operations.

  • Significant Financial Burden – Managing millions of acres without federal funding could strain Wyoming’s budget, potentially forcing the state to sell off land parcels, as seen in other states.
